Fiction Editors Wanted
Currently, we're looking for experienced editors for our genre fiction titles. Those selected for an editorial position will receive an Editor Guidebook explaining editorial duties in detail, but in general, editors are required to provide substantive edits, line edit, style edit, copy edit, and to proofread the assigned title; review new manuscripts submissions and assist in assigning story ratings ( e.g., PG-13, G) based on the MPAA Movie Rating Guidelines. Of critical importance is that editors are responsible for advising the Virtual Tales Board Members if story content is changing enough to merit a rating change as the editing process progresses.

Requirements
Editors must have Microsoft Word (PC or Mac) or another program that will translate to and from Word while preserving all settings and formatting. You'll be receiving and editing files in Word format, and once a manuscript is fully edited, you will work with the author to finalize promotional copy for the website and back cover jacket. Editors are also required to follow Chicago Manual of Style, as this is our in-house style.

Payment
Virtual Tales pays through PayPal, so editors must also have a PayPal account. Payment for editors is 20% of of all print and electronic sales of the work(s) edited, minus PayPal fees. Editors will also receive a brief bio (100-250 words) on the Virtual Tales web site, along with a link back to your own website. Royalty payments are sent quarterly.

• A summary of your background and/or relevant experience
• What genre(s) you are interested editing for and how many manuscripts you believe you will be capable of handling at one time
• Resume of related background and experience
